Bridges

Implementing long-term SHM (Structural Health Monitoring) involves the user of permanently installed acceleration sensors. This dynamic monitoring system can periodically capture ambient vibrations and shock detection on the bridge structure, whether in the piles or table. The data is typically processed via a cloud server, allowing for remote real-time monitoring of multiple bridges on a large scale. Alarming and notifications are triggered based on drifts in natural frequencies, detection of high-amplitude accelerations beyond the nominal reference spectrum, and shock events. These alarms prompt specific site inspections for timely intervention.

The main features are:

  • MEMS based acceleration sensors with linear frequency response
  • Very accurate absolute time synchronization, in the micro-second range (μs)
  • GNSS localized measurements
  • Common dynamic recording of time history signals between multiple devices
  • Autonomous devices with automated levelling and orientation, easily and quickly installed on site, in a cable-free manner
  • Straightforward data processing, using a cloud platform, typically Syscom Cloud Software (SCS)
  • Response spectrum (RSP) alarm-based notifications
